About PSRTTY

RTTY software born from personal radio operation. Its origins and approach to sharing.

Why PSRTTY was created

H.Tanaka (AKIHABARA-GIKEN JS1YJY) began PSRTTY for personal QSOs and contests, making RTTY accessible using the PC–radio USB connection already used for digital modes.

Read received text, call a station, send macros and log the QSO on one screen. Open a separate radio-control window when needed.

Growing with operating needs

Starting with ICOM CI-V and USB Audio RTTY, features grew through use: cross scope and C tuning, sub-decoders A/B for multiple signals, and Profiles to switch radios.

JST display serves local operation; ADIF/Cabrillo use UTC. Keeping original logs and exporting selected ranges matters. Development versions are shared and improved with user reports and suggestions.

License and distribution

Source code is public. Check usage and redistribution terms in the included DISTRIBUTION_TERMS.txt and other documents. Please direct users to the official distribution rather than redistribute unchanged builds. Modified releases also have conditions on identifying the original, changes, source availability and attribution.

Bundled or used third-party software such as Hamlib has its own licenses. Verify operation with your equipment and use at your own responsibility.

PS Ham-ware and AKIHABARA-GIKEN

PS Ham-ware publishes software H.Tanaka JH1HST builds for personal radio use as part of AKIHABARA-GIKEN. PS names the series because many programs use a Pipe Separate format somewhere.
