そこで、シエグ社のG106という機種を見つけ、これを日本向けにできれば現状を少し解決できるのではないか？と思い、シエグ社に相談したのです。 シエグといえば、日本ではエレクトロデザイン社が輸入代行をしていた頃に少しだけ見たことがあるだけです。 シエグ社は、理解が早く、日本向けファームウェアを提供してくれました。どうやら、過去に対応をしてもらった人もいるようです。

しかし、これが本当に日本で問題ないものなのかどうかです。

初心者の若者に提案するのであれば技適が必要かもしれない。そうでなくても確実に日本適合でなければいけないと考えました。 それはなかなか大変だと思いながらも、進めた記録です。

Well…2023 Jan, The beginning of the matter was that the Yaesu FT-818 was discontinued, and in Japanese market would, finally it be limited choice in the case of inexpensive, compact HF equipment for light users, and I feared that new users and young people would have fewer opportunities to experience HF equipment. If young people wanted to operate HF bands easily, the only options for those that cleared the new spurious system-rule would be the ICOM IC-705 (120,000 JPY; around 950 USD) or the Yaesu FT-891 (70,000 JPY; around 500 USD). That is, it's a hard situation for everyone. If get lucky enough to buy it on sale, it will be about 10,000 JPY cheaper. Even so, it still seems a bit expensive for a beginner who has no idea what he or she is doing. Personally speaking, I hope it is under 50,000 JPY (around 360 USD).

Then, I found a model called G106 by Xiegu, and thought that if we could make this model for Japan, we could solve the current situation a little. I thought it would be a good solution to the current situation, so I consulted with Xiegu. In my mind, Xiegu is I have only seen it briefly in Japan when Electrodesign was the import agent. Xiegu was kindly quick to understand and provided us with firmware for Japan. Apparently, some people have had this addressed in the past.

But, not sure if this is really a problem in Japan? I hope good so.

If we are proposing this to young people who are beginners, it need to be technically compliant for Japan. If possible, we thought that it must it need Japan-compliant MIC. That is a record of how I proceeded, even though we thought it would be quite a challenge.
